Working with leading exhibition design company, Atelier Brückner, an innovative, 2,400m2 museum was constructed amongst pine forests. The museum blended into the existing environment without disturbing flora, with its construction following circular design principles that enables all components to be eventually removed without damaging the environment.
Distributor and System Integrator – and lead partner – Astel Professional Display Systems, then worked with Panasonic and content creators Marshmallow Laser Feast to create a multi-sensory immersive experience across three main areas.
Market-leading projection technology
123 Panasonic DLP projectors are used to create immersive experiences within the museum, for up to 200 people at a time. These projectors feature exceptional reliability, high and continuous brightness levels, and colour uniformity and image quality – delivering 4K resolution. This is essential for providing the exceptional image quality necessary in large-scale projections, conveying realism and immersive visual storytelling.
Panasonic’s projectors feature simplified workflows designed to seamlessly blend images from multiple projectors. Thanks to Panasonic’s Short Throw and Ultra Short Throw lenses that can project high-resolution visuals at very short distances, the projectors can be easily hidden, ensuring the visitor experience is never disrupted by shadows.

Creating an innovative, immersive experience for visitors
The Ephesus Experience Museum offers an in-depth exploration of the ancient city’s rich history, from its founding to its peak as a major urban centre. For approximately 20 minutes, a storyteller guides visitors through three rooms, with each utilising advanced AV technology to allow visitors to walk the streets of the ancient city, to see the splendour of its buildings, and interact with its citizens.
This engaging visitor experience includes 360° projections, 3D soundscapes, and multi-sensory elements such as fog and scents, which together create an engaging, vivid and educational experience that transports audiences back thousands of years.
Innovative projection mapping technology is used in multiple areas across the walls, floors, and ceilings. This combines large, high-resolution images from short distances using Panasonic’s Short Throw and Ultra Short Throw lenses.
This is utilised to guide visitors through the history of three significant temples: First Temple, the Marble Temple, and Artemision – one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Panasonic’s projectors delivers 360° visuals across every surface, giving visitors the sense of walking through an ancient city, complete with accompanying sounds from an advanced speaker system, and evocative scents.
This area really showcases the breadth of Panasonic’s innovation at Ephesus. Visitors are surrounded by monolithic images, delivering an interactive experience that enables visitors to “meet” historical characters from Ephesus, accompanied by an engaging audio track from archaeologists and historians.
Visitors also experience the stunning effects of an earthquake that were known to impact the city. This one-of-a-kind application is created using special lenses on Panasonic’s projectors. The earthquake vibrations and sounds come from the L’Acoustics L-ISA sound system, giving visitors the sense that they are experiencing a real earthquake.
Ultimately, Panasonic is a perfect fit for the Immersive Experience award. Its technology delivers stunning, vivid 4K visuals, enhancing the historical storytelling of Ephesus. The entry demonstrates Panasonic’s unwavering commitment to continuous innovation and excellence in creating a state-of-the-art immersive experience, captivating and educating visitors by transforming historical narratives into dynamic and engaging experiences.
