Kiss of the Sea: a spectacular fusion of architecture, technology, and live performance in Sunset Town, Vietnam.

Kiss of the Sea is a groundbreaking live stage show located on Vietnam’s southern coast in Sunset Town, Phu Quoc Island.

It questions the boundaries of large-scale outdoor architainment by merging architecture, multimedia, technology, and live performance into a monumental yet personal experience for all audiences.

Creating a world within a world

The show is intricately designed to complement Sunset Town’s landscape and narrative, resonating with the iconic Kiss Bridge and joining several other attractions to enhance the island-wide experience crafted by Sun Group.

Kiss of the Sea aims to make a bold architectural statement that captivates guests from afar, whether they are arriving in the city or observing from a cable car. Its grand scale is designed to gather thousands of people for a shared emotional journey, emphasizing the importance of a venue that fits the vast and exceptional space and truly belongs to it.

The Storyline: a multidimensional journey through our galaxy

The storyline follows Kim and Mok, along with their quirky animal companions, Khee and Akua, as they embark on a multidimensional odyssey through our galaxy. They navigate realms of freedom, celestial poetry, universal connections, destructive chaos, and the celebration of life’s balance, threatened by the villainous Faio. This colorful fresco unfolds across 14 unique scenes, supported by custom music, blending the heart’s power with elemental forces to deliver a vibrant and emotionally layered performance.

Creating a dialog between space-inspired architecture and the surroundings

Architecturally, the stage draws inspiration from the shape of a black hole, creating a dialog between the scenography and the natural elements like the sunset, the Kiss Bridge, and the horizon line. Three consecutive massive arches emphasize the depth of perspective and invite audiences to engage with the cast, the structure, and the sky. The seating arrangement ensures unobstructed views and a theater-like experience from every angle.

A human-driven wow factor

A key aspect of the show is its human-driven wow factor, where performers’ movements, their integration with multimedia effects, and their proximity to the audience create a collective yet intimate experience. This human element bridges the gap that digital effects alone cannot achieve, allowing the audience to feel the raw energy and emotion of the 60 live performers who blend seamlessly with the multimedia effects.

Notable show elements

Noteworthy elements of the 30-minute show include the world’s largest seawater-powered water cascade screen© of 1,000m², effects reaching up to 60m high and 120m wide, and arches measuring 30m high by 65m wide. The live cast integrates with extensive pyrotechnics and lighting, ensuring high visibility and perfect synchronization with the multimedia effects. Efficiently operated by custom-made show control software, the system requires only a 7-person team.

With 200 people involved in its creation, Kiss of the Sea represents three years of meticulous construction and six years of development under the ownership of Sun Group. It sets a new global benchmark for live stage shows, transforming Sunset Town into an ecosystem of wonder where technology, art, and human connection converge.
