Next generation media integration, ride technology, and animated figures bring our dynamic chase story to life.
We heavily integrated media characters in dimensional scenes. In our Sahara Square scene, our heroes, Nick and Judy, chase after our villain through a group of partygoing mammals on an overhead bridge set. The characters are convincingly in the scene by perfectly synching the media to neighbouring neon signs and show lighting. As the sign blinks, show lights spill real lighting onto adjacent sets, while the colour and lighting in the media change in sync, making all media and dimensional objects appear to share the same space.
Another example is a triple plane projection effect, where Nick and Judy appear mid scene on a downstage scrim. Adjacent street lamps spill painted light on dimensional sets as well as the media characters, creating a look of them sharing the same space. On a mid-plane, our villain is seen escaping on an overhead gondola. A projected mural behind her conveys flashing lightning, spilling onto the physical scenery via show lighting, as well as on characters in the downstage and mid projection scrims.
We also broke new ground on our animated figures, allowing Gazelle to dance and shake her hips in our finale scene. We even have Nick and Judy drive alongside us to make a big police bust.
For the first time, we wrote software to allow trackless ride vehicles from different dispatches to cross a shared ride path. This allows 6 vehicles to share our Sahara Square scene simultaneously, reinforcing the feeling of police cars chaotically seeking and searching in and out of buildings with perceived near-collisions.
